A long, hectic work week is sometimes harsh on our hair thanks to the dust and pollution. By the time Saturday night comes around, you’re left staring at a head nest! And let’s face it; even though most of us use numerous branded conditioners, shampoos and serums to add a beautiful shine to our hair, over time, these products can do more harm than good. Instead, you can try some simple and natural remedies to make your gorgeous hair smooth and shiny. So ditch those weekend hair spa appointments, ladies. We’ve got a list of tried and tested hair masks you simply MUST try! They’re easy, and guaranteed to work.
Coconut oil and curry leaves – This remedy has been tried and tested for many generations. At some point in your life, we’re sure your daadi insisted on oiling your hair and braiding it in a tight plait! (Memories!)
This beauty treatment is pretty easy. Take 4 tablespoons of coconut oil, to which you should add a few curry leaves. Bring this to a boil. The oil will start going from clear to a deep green colour. Once it is cool, massage it into your hair and onto your scalp. Wrap your hair in a shower cap for about 30 minutes and wash it thoroughly with shampoo. You will have shiny and soft hair in NO time!
- Avocado – With nutrients that will deeply nourish and moisturize your hair, an avocado hair mask should be your go-to weekly hair regime. It also is excellent for dry and damaged hair. For this hair mask, you will need to combine one ripe avocado with two tablespoons of extra-virgin olive oil. Apply this mixture on damp hair, from the roots to the ends. Cover with a shower cap for 30 minutes. Finally, rinse and shampoo your hair as usual. Your hair will thank you!
- Yogurt – Ugh, the weather is a mess these days! Yogurt not only works as a deep conditioner, but it also helps you cool your scalp. This regime is pretty simple and straightforward. Brush out your hair well with a wide-tooth comb. Spread some plain yogurt evenly over your hair. Keep it covered with a shower cap for 30 minutes and then rinse it out with lukewarm water. Follow this with your regular shampoo-conditioner wash and voila! Your hair is ramp-ready!
Make sure you follow any one of these regimes at least once a week. Do you have any awesome home remedies you use on your hair? Let us know!
